It’s not often that you come across a flamenco musician who is a singer, saxophonist and composer all at the same time. It takes a rare talent to really master all three, and that is what sets Antonio Lizana apart from the rest. Born in Cádiz in 1986, he has been described as one of the great exponents of new flamenco-jazz, but this description, while still true, does not perhaps do justice to his body of work, which spans six albums over the last decade and includes world music.

Lately he has been performing all this material live, at a rate of a hundred concerts or so a year, at festivals such as Womex, Etnosur, SXSW Austin, Casablanca Jazz Fest and flamenco events in New York, San Francisco and the Dutch Bienniale. He was one of the first Spanish artists to record a concert for America’s NPR Tiny Desk series, and has collaborated with artists of the creative stature of Arturo O’Farrill (their joint album won a Latin Grammy in 2015), Chano Domínguez, Alejandro Sanz, India Martínez, Marcus Miller, Jorge Pardo, Shai Maestro, Chambao, José Mercé, Snurky Puppy and many more.
