50th Anniversary Tour – A Tribute to Ivan ‘Mamão’ Conti

They possess the aura of pioneers and the craft of masters. Azymuth have been a legend of Brazilian popular music for half a century, although guitarist Alex Malheiros is now the only living member of the original line-up, following the deaths of percussionist Ivan ‘Mamão’ in April 2023 (this tour is dedicated to his memory) and that of keyboardist José Roberto Bertrami in 2012, who was replaced by Kiko Continentino. Their highly personal blend of jazz, funk, samba, electronic music and Brazilian popular music is a reference for thousands of musicians around the world. They call their style Samba Doido (Crazy Samba), and have captured it in the thirty albums they have recorded, one after the other, since 1973. Fifty years that explain this tour. Time enough to allow them to collaborate, together or separately, with the rapper Madlib or the bossa nova master Marcos Valle, or to be remixed by Jazzanova, Theo Parrish, 4 Hero or Ashley Beedle. In other words, the crème de la crème of the most elegant electronic downtempo of the last few decades.
