IVAN “MELON” LEWIS TRIO

Born in Pinar del Río (Cuba) but resident in Spain for more than two decades, it is not surprising that his piano skills have been called upon by Sole Giménez, Joan Manuel Serrat, Joaquín Sabina, Ana Belén, Lolita, Ainhoa Arteta, Javier Limón and Buika, with whom he has enjoyed a close artistic relationship for more than five years. Iván “Melón” Lewis is not only one of the essential names in contemporary Latin jazz, but also one of the most outstanding pianists of his generation. This is especially evident not only in his collaborations but (above all) in his albums, such as Voyager (2021) which won him the Latin Grammy for Best Jazz Album, or his latest album, Bembé (2023), his second record with The Cuban Swing Express, in which he revisits guarachas, boleros and other Caribbean genres with an undeniable instrumental luxuriance and mastery. He has performed at jazz festivals in New York, Montreux, Barcelona and Havana, among many others.
