The Cookers are a supergroup, indeed they are. But without the divas and the clashes of ego. Any one of its seven members could claim to be a living legend. Their curriculum vitae speaks for them. But what drives them is working as a team for the common good. With an abundance of skill and no undue desire to show off. If they ever did have anything to prove, they proved it long ago on any one of the more than a thousand recordings they have made, or in the 250 years of experience that they have accumulated between them.

The line-up includes trumpeter David Weiss, saxophonists Billy Harper (tenor) and Donald Harrison (alto), trumpeter Eddie Henderson, pianist George Cables, bassist Cecil McBee and percussionist Billy Hart, all of whom have been around since the mid-sixties. Their track record is breathtaking: they have been members of the bands of Herbie Hancock, Charles Lloyd, Max Roach, Art Blakey, Sonny Rollins, Joe Henderson and Freddie Hubbard, among many others.

They have already released seven albums as The Cookers, including the acclaimed Time and Time Again (2014), which was voted album of the year on iTunes. They have played at the most prestigious jazz festivals in the world (Newport, New Orleans, Vancouver) and are arguably the best post-bop band that can be seen on stage today. Any hyperbole fails to do them justice.
